I'd say CNet is dead again, eh?
I wonder how many lives it has?

Storm's Edge is life #3, right?

Well, it would be #3... but in its current life. It doesn't seem nothing
is even happening. There was some activity from an. to about April or
so, but now, Silence.

You've also got to keep in mind the fact that the southern US got hit with
a couple of hurricanes, and since Dan IS in Texas, and had some family in
one of the affected areas, he's had a lot of extras on his plate over the
last little while.

The BBS is still up and running, though, so I take that as a good
sign...even though things might not be pgoressing as quickly as many would
hope, that doesn't mean that we're going to have to start looking for
"Incarnation 4" just yet. ;)

You're exactly right! While this has been the best year for my
business, it has been a bad year for my family. My mother's health
is getting worse and she requires more home care as time goes on. My
stepfather is on the edge of having to leave his place of work. One of
my sisters has been hospitalized three times this year and the latest
was an emergency surgery. Now that she is home from the hospital, she
needed someone with her at all times because of her lack of mobility.
She now has been off work for 8 weeks now, and will most likely have to
leave her work as well. My other sister is just now getting back on
her feet. Plus all the demands of my business this year as it has been
a year of growth. Finally, I have an 18-year-old daughter as well as a
16-year-old daughter. Anyone who has teenage daughters can tell you
they create more drama and stress than you can imagine!

Even with all that, I have been able to steal time away here and there
to work on CNet. In fact, the most difficult and time consuming task
of reverse engineering the lost source code to reproduce an exact copy
of the last release of CNet (v5.07) is just about finished. Plus with
the slow months coming up, I will have much more time to spend on CNet.
Look for a release of CNet 5.10a before Christmas.

I have not been following the whole thing, but does this means
that the source code finally got released ?

Maybe we can have a port to UNIX now ?

No, the source code has NOT been released.
Are the binaries available anywhere?

I've been thinking of setting my old amiga up as a BBS just for grins.
I know it'll never be the same as it was back in the late 80's when I
used desterm on a Commodore 128 to call local boards....there were
dozens of BBS's. The internet is great but there's no sense of
community like back then.

ah well....

Actually, from the looks of cnetbbs.net there will be a new version
released in the next few days. Talked to KGuide earlier and he was
setting up the online store and hopes to have the last bit of coding
done tonight.

The current version will then be 5.10a.
